Recognition - a good boost up

Today I got the certification from Tony Redmond, the VP & HPS CTO for the Knowledge Base contribution I did in HP. These small recognitions are truly a boost to work more focussed and also gives a punch to put more effort. I feel more responsible to contribute more to the HP Knowledge pool.

This is a very cool service.

Visual Studio Editor Guidelines

I came across a cool tip today.
By adding a registry entry you can include the vertical guide to the Visual Studio editor (applicable to VS 2003 and forward). This will be very handy and help you write codes with no need to scroll when reading your codes again.









The registry entry is
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\7.1\Text Editor]
"Guides"="RGB(0,0,250) 5, 85"
Here I have set the rules at 5th and 85th columns.

SQL Injection Attacks

I was surprised to receive a mail from the IM Security to revisit the web site we have developed. This is one such websites that is open to external parties other than the internal HP users. The mail was talking about SQL Injection attack that our website is prone to and advised us to take necessary steps to avoid such an attack.

This was the first time I am hearing of this attack and really was inquisitive to understand what this is. I am sure most of you who would read this blog also would be as excited to learn about this as I was when I had this oppurtunity.

I can assure you that most of the sites you are visiting daily are prone to such attacks. I have tested it myself for my piece of satisfaction. You can also give a try ;). But please do not use this strength to spoil someones hard spent time in developing the site.

Power of Now

I got this wonderful book authored by Eckhart Tolle as a birthday gift from my little sis.
I am still amazed at the choice of her gifts to me. She always presents me with some surprising gifts which would make me love her more and also which I need the most at the right time.
